Experience

Diane Gill is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the School of Information Studies at Louisiana State University. Her teaching portfolio includes a wide array of courses focused on children and youth services, such as Collection Development for Children and Teens, Youth Services Librarianship, Information Services to Diverse Populations, Information & Society, School Library Management, and Internship in Library & Information Science. Additionally, she serves as the practicum supervisor and mentor for school librarian candidates pursuing their school library certification through the Texas State Board of Education. In addition, she is a mentor for the Dr. Yvonne J. Chandler Mentorship Program.
 
Before onboarding with LSU, she taught undergraduate Teacher Education courses including Children's Literature, Instructional Strategies, and Art and Music for Children at a Historically Black College in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Gill has taught United States History from Colonialization up to Reconstruction and U.S. History from 1877 to the present for a community college in Dallas. She has taught Contemporary Global Studies and U. S. History at Northwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas.
 
Dr. Gill has served on several education committees including the Paul Quinn College Teacher Education Advisory Board, the Texas Association of Developing Colleges, and the UNT Masters of Library and Information Science Capstone Committee.
